Annapurna Sanctuary trek begins from Nayapul, which is an hour’s scenic drive from Pokhara with some fabulous views of Annapurna south and fish tail en the route. After half an hours walk from Nayapul, we reach at Birethani, situated at the confluence of Modi and Bhurung rivers. The route devides from here. We take the west trail towards Ghorepani which is a trading village situated at an elevation of 28550m. The sun rise view at Poon hill is very stunning. The trail leads towards east from Ghorepani to the hamlet of Tadapani. From Chhomrong, we commence our journey into the Annapurna sanctuary and onwards to Annapurna base camp.
The journey to base camp follows the valley in between the huge ramparts of Himchuli & Machhapuchhre, eventually emerging into an awesome Amphitheater, where a labyrinth of mountains and Annapurna I tower almost vertically above us. At the final destination the Annapurna sanctuary 4200m will be welcoming you patiently. The Annapurna Sanctuary has been treasured by local inhabitants as a place of spiritual refuge since long before trekkers "discovered" it. A natural amphitheatre, ringed by Annapurna south 7219m. And I, Varahashikhar7847m, Gangapurna 7485m. And Machhapuchhre 6998m, it serves as base camp for expeditions as well as favorite trek destination for mountain lovers. Annapurna sanctuary trekking is a good introduction to higher altitude without being too strenuous.
Trekking Styles in Annapurna region and Annapurna Sanctuary
Most of the trekking routes in the Annapurna region are well serviced by Teahouse for most of their length. This is particularly true for the most popular treks the Jomsom trek, the Annapurna circuit , Annapurna circuit Jomsom Trek, the Annapurna sanctuary and Ghorepani, the short trek Ghorepani throughout Ghandruk and Annapurna Base camp Trek.
The treks in less developed areas, particularly the Dhaulagiri circuit and the treks start of Lamjung, definitely require trekkers to be self sufficient in food and shelter.
Major Attractions of Annapurna region and Annapurna sanctuary Trek
The most prominent ethic in the groups in the Annapurna region is the Gurungs, Thakali, and Mangngba. The Gurungs are the most widely distributed being found from the hills of Gorkha district to as Far West as Palpa. The Thakali come from the upper Kali Gandaki Valley around Jomsom where their traditional forming has been supplement by trade and, in particular, hotel and restaurant business.
When to Trek in Annapurna region and Annapurna Sanctuary?
The best times for trekking in Annapurna region are the main seasons of spring (February to late April ) and autumn (late September to late November) winter is possible, especially in Ghorepani Trek, Annapurna base camp Trek, Kali Gandki Trek, during this time, there are very few tourist on route, higher passes may have too much snow Annapurna circuit and Dhaulagiri are likely to be closed by snow at this time.

Arrival in kathmandu:
Upon your arrival at international airport, After the completion of Visa formalities you have to come downstairs to collect Luggage and proceed to outside from terminal Building. Please look at your Printed Name and Our Company Signboard Annapurna Foothills Treks & Exp and follow them. Meet our representative; you will be transferred to your hotel in Kathmandu .. You should clear your dues before we proceed for the trip. You are free to relax or explore around the city in the very first day. |

Sight seeing kathmandu:
After breakfast, we visit Bodhanath, the Stupa of a Million Dew-Drops. We circumambulate the stupa with monks and devotees. then we Visit Pashupatinath , Nepal 's most sacred Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, the destroyer. We watch Hindu cremation along the banks of the Bagmati River . After visiting Pashupatinath, we drive to Bhaktapur - the City of Devotees . There is a one big museum in Bhaktapur which is famous for temples, palaces and houses dating back several centuries. Drive back to Kathmandu . Overnight stay at hotel |

Kathmandu to Pokhara
Drive to Pokhara (900 meters) for 7 hours by tourist bus. Trekking staff will come to your Hotel early in the morning at 6:30AM to pick you up then leaving around 7:30AM to Pokhara. Overnight stay at hotel with breakfast included tea and coffee. |

Drive to Nayapul (1010 meters) and trek to Hile(1400 meters) for 3 hours. We begin our trek at Nayapul after 1 hour driving by private vehicle from Pokhara. After 15 minutes short walk along the bank of the Modi Khola, we reach Birethanti (1015 meters), a large village that has many shops and teahouses. From there, the trail continues through the village. The trail follows the north bank of the Bhudhigandaki Khola. From there, the trail climbs steadily up the side of the valley to Hille at 1495m. Hile to Ghorepani (2840 meters)
Hile to Ghorepani (2855m.): A steep ascends up to Ulleri and gradually ascending up to Ghorepani takes about 7 hours. You will walk whole day through dense forest of Rhododendron , oak trees and bamboo grooves watching beautiful rhododendron and orchid flowers. Gorepani to Tadapani: 2610 ( meters)
Wake up early in the morning 0500 hrs for the excursion to Poon Hill (3200 m), you can hear the sounds of trekkers preparing for the pre-dawn assault on Poon Hill. Take great care on the path up the hill, as it can be slippery in places. It takes about an hour to climb the top. As the sun rises, the views are literally breathtaking, a wide Himalayan panorama stretching from Dhaulagiri 8167m (the world's seventh highest peak) to Manaslu 8156m (the world's eighth highest peak) in the east, with the mighty Annapurna range in between them. Then come back to Ghorepani, have breakfast & start the walk towards Tadapani. The walk to Tadapani passes through the forest of Rhododendron and several ups & downs & reaches in Tadapani. Tadapani - Chhomrung (2040m)
The trail drops down from Tadapani, through dense rhododendron forest. From Ghandrung there are good views of the upper Modi valley. The route starts the long ascent high above the west bank of the Modi Khola, and continues up to the village of Chhomrung (2040m.) Towering above the village is the mighty peak of Annapurna South , with the Fishtail facing it across the valley. Chhomrong to Dovan, Himalaya hotel [2850m]:
The trail descends via a stone staircase, eventually crossing the Chhomrung Khola. Participants climb high above the Modi Khola, traveling its west bank, and pass through forests of bamboo, rhododendron and oak. This portion of the day’s trek is followed by yet another ascent to Kuldi before finally descending a long, steep, stone staircase to Dovan. We stay overnight at Dovan at lodge. Dovan to Machhapuchhare base camp [3700m]
Your next destination is to reach Machhapuchhare base camp. You ascend and descend as your route opens up new trails. On climbing steeply for a while, you approach Hinku Cave . This course follows zigzag paths of stones. After walking for 3 to 4 hours, you enter the Annapurna circuit Sanctuary, a huge amphitheater enclosed by a solid wall of snow-capped peaks which include Annapurna I, III and and the fish tail spire of Machhapuchhare. Several lodges and Annapurna inns are spotted at Deorali and Bagar. Finally, you will find yourself at Machhapuchhare Base Camp, a grassy moraine platform. Machhapuchere Base Camp Annapurna South.
The trail remains on the west bank of the Modi, now flowing through a more open valley, and eventually emerges into the Sanctuary. Straight ahead is the high lateral moraine of the South Annapurna glacier and the Modi follows a deep cliff to the right. This is the site of Machhapuchhre base camp (3480m) from which you can see a spectacular panorama of mountains. We either camp here or continue North West , staying above the glacial moraine. Annapurna South Base Camp to Dovan/ Bambu
The route begins on a broad grassy path, before climbing over lateral moraine and down to the beautiful ablation valley. We soon reach the British Expedition Annapurna South Face Base Camp (4234m.) The best views are probably obtained from the crest of the moraine, which we follow until it is cut through by the glacier flowing down from Himal Chuli to the north. Descend and follow the same route to a pleasant camp spot at Dovan, which lies on the boundary of the Sanctuary. Dovan/ Bambu to Chhomrong,
Descend a long, stone staircase through bamboo and rhododendrons forests to Kuldi. The trek continues through beautiful rhododendron forests and down to Sinuwa. Chhomrung to Ghandrung / Syauli Bazzar
From Chhomrung, the trek heads back to Taglung – descending gently through forests to Kummu. While doing trek in the khumbu region, we will witness the different views of mountains such as Kwangde, Thamserku, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, the "horse saddle" of Kanteiga and of course the summit of Everest itself. We take a short rest for a while and it allows us little time for acclimatization. Here, you prepare yourself to explore the ascent of kalapatthar which is an altitude of 5545m. While climbing down from Lobuche, you will see some glacial moraine until the peak comes into view. Finally, you will be witnessing the north face of Mt. Everest . We return through a different route through Panboche to Lukla. We catch a flight for Kathmandu from Lukla.
