Barunste expedition

Barunste expeditionThis mountain is situated at the height of 7129m. It lies in between the lap of Mt. Everest and Mt. Makalu . On 30 May 1954, Colin Todd and Geoff Harrow limbed this mountain first time. They climbed this peak through the south East Ridge . After that, many people have been found using this route and they have been very successful. This mountain is also being popular day by day.

The south east ridge of the Baruntse is little bit difficult for it is quite straightforward and hard to climb. You see hard sections of the elevation with 50 degree along with the prominent ice cliff. Therefore, there is a constant danger and risk of avalanche. Climbers who climbed during spring season have been found very successful. This season is best from the safety point of view. Nevertheless, few climbers have ascended it in winter as well.

The expedition starts according to the schedule we have fixed in Kathmandu . We catch a flight to Lukla from Kathmandu . It is almost 11 days trek on foot to Baruntse base camp. While returning back to Kathmandu , we follow the same route. The Baruntse base camp is situated near the Panchpokhari at the height of 5200m. This mountain can be climbed through the Arun valley and Makalu base camp as well.

Client Testimonials

Namadste!
While doing trek in the khumbu region, we will witness the different views of mountains such as Kwangde, Thamserku, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, the "horse saddle" of Kanteiga and of course the summit of Everest itself. We take a short rest for a while and it allows us little time for acclimatization. Here, you prepare yourself to explore the ascent of kalapatthar which is an altitude of 5545m. While climbing down from Lobuche, you will see some glacial moraine until the peak comes into view. Finally, you will be witnessing the north face of Mt. Everest . We return through a different route through Panboche to Lukla. We catch a flight for Kathmandu from Lukla.
