Manaslu, also known as Kutang, is the eighth highest peak in the world. It lies 40 miles east of the Annapurna . The long ridges of the mountains and valley glaciers present viable approaches from every directions. It also terminates a peak that towers steeply above the surrounding landscape.
In the past, people used to know this mountain as a Kutang. ‘Tang’ is a Tibetan word which means the flat place. It thereby describes the mountain’s general summit. The name later changed in Manaslu which is derived from the Sanskrit word manasa and is translated as the mountain of the spirit.
The first ascent of this mountain was made in 1956 by T. Imanishi and Gyalzen Norbu. This peak was not climbed for the next one and half decade. In 1971, Japanese team made a second successful ascent. There are half dozens established routes in this mountains these days. In the climbing history, the south face of the mountain is said to be very tough.

Namadste!
While doing trek in the khumbu region, we will witness the different views of mountains such as Kwangde, Thamserku, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, the "horse saddle" of Kanteiga and of course the summit of Everest itself. We take a short rest for a while and it allows us little time for acclimatization. Here, you prepare yourself to explore the ascent of kalapatthar which is an altitude of 5545m. While climbing down from Lobuche, you will see some glacial moraine until the peak comes into view. Finally, you will be witnessing the north face of Mt. Everest . We return through a different route through Panboche to Lukla. We catch a flight for Kathmandu from Lukla.
