Nepal Tourism Year 2011 Nepal is the one of most popular travel destination in world. The natural scenery, high mountains, incomparable cultural heritage and numerous specialties have made Nepal a well-known destination in the world tourism map with a distinct image of its own. The cultural, geographical, ethnic and bio-diversities of the country allure international visitors to Nepal time and again which truly substantiates the spirit of Nepal tourism brand; ‘Naturally Nepal, once is not enough ! With the glittering badge of adventure destination and the adage “Guests are Gods that reflects Hospitality is Nepalese culture” deeply rooted in our culture, the tourism products of Nepal never cease to mesmerize the visitors. Government of Nepal in consultation with Nepalese Tourism Industry, concerned organizations and experts decided to launch a national tourism campaign "Nepal Tourism Year 2011". This announcement reflects the government’s anticipation to bring into at least one million international tourists in Nepal by the year 2011 and spread the benefits of tourism to the people at large.

The concept of Nepal Tourism Year 2011 envisions harnessing these opportunities and strengths and bringing together the commitment of the government, expertise and experiences of the organizations like Nepal Tourism Board, aptitude and dynamism of the private sector and communities for further tourism development in the country. Active involvement of the major political parties, members of the Constitution Assembly and Right groups is always taken into consideration in order to make the campaign inclusive and participatory in modus operandi and effective in result. The campaign will also focus on mobilizing the networks of the Non-Resident Nepalese (NRN) communities, Nepalese diplomatic missions abroad, I/NGOs, airlines, and national and international media. Similarly, friends and well-wishers of Nepal, tourism academicians and celebrities will also be approached in order to highlight the campaign internally as well as internationally.

The Annapurna Foothills Treks and expedition has fully supported the government’s decision to celebrate 2011 as a Nepal tourism year. To support this declaration of the government, we have planned to fetch more and more tourists for adventure trekking, sightseeing, expedition, peak climbing and several other adventure packages. We have specifically focused on Nepal trekking, sightseeing tour in and out of the Kathmandu valley, peak climbing, pilgrimage tour, Jungle safari, and hiking tours etc for the tourism year. We feel pleased to declare that the Annapurna Foothills Treks and expedition has been opened for advance booking for 2011. Some groups have already booked the trip for the year 2011. A new trekking route between Kabeli and Khaksewa rivers offers an in-depth experience of the culture, tradition, and lifestyle of the Limbu people who are dominant in this region. The 4-5 day Limbu Cultural Trail trek starts from Phungling and passes through Suketar, Lalikharka, Kande Bhanjyang, Simbu, Phungphung, Phumpe and Mamankhe. The Limbu Cultural Trail ends in Mamankhe where more than 95 percent of the population is Limbu (Mabo). From Mamankhe one has the option of either joining the Kanchenjunga trail or retracing the route back to Phungling.

The closest translation of ‘Pumori’ in Sherpa language is unmarried daughter. It was named in the honor of George Mallory. This mountain lies in the in the Khumbu region, on the boarder between Nepal and Tibet.

From Kathmandu, the Mt. Pumori base camp is easily reached. You have to catch flight for Lukla and then we start trek through Namche bazzar, Tonboche, Pheriche and Lobuche. This trek is said to be the superb trekking in Nepal and it rewards you with the stunning scenes and the rich culture and rituals of the tamag people.

Nepal is said to have had a fight with Tibet many years ago for salt and the biggest war took place between Nepal and Tibet. This lies in Langtang area which is one of the most famous trekking routes in Nepal. As this area share boarder with Tibet, many people are engaged in salt trade. They also sell Changra meat with foodstuffs from the south.
